Project Background


This state-owned aluminum processing enterprise specializes in high-end aluminum alloy sheet, strip and billet production. Its original online melt purification system had two critical pain points:

1. Traditional fixed-type degassing boxes were difficult for slag removal and maintenance. Long downtime for repairs severely restricted continuous production capacity.
2. Unstable aluminum melt degassing performance led to fluctuating hydrogen content in molten aluminum, easily triggering porosity and inclusion defects in finished products, which failed to meet quality specifications for premium aluminum materials.

To upgrade the melt purification section, the enterprise launched a bidding process for new equipment. They required a **tiltable online degassing system** capable of handling large-volume molten aluminum, with reliable corrosion resistance and simplified maintenance.

Customized Solution


Based on the customer’s on-site working conditions, aluminum flow rate and quality requirements, we developed this tailor-made tilting online degassing equipment:

1. Hydraulic tilting mechanism


The unit is equipped with a hydraulic tilting drive system for full body rotation. During maintenance and slag cleaning, the equipment can be tilted to drain residual molten aluminum. Operators can access the chamber interior to remove slag deposits, drastically reducing maintenance time.

2. High-performance chamber lining


The inner cavity is lined with high-temperature refractory material (the blue lining shown in photos). It resists aluminum wetting and thermal shock, protecting the steel shell from molten aluminum corrosion and preventing iron contamination of aluminum melt for long-term stable operation.

3. Dual-chamber processing structure


The internal dual-chamber serial flow path enables two-stage rotary degassing. Rotors shear inert gas into micro-fine bubbles. Rising bubbles adsorb hydrogen and non-metallic inclusions from molten aluminum for efficient purification.

4. Robust frame and sealing design


The main body adopts heavy-duty welded steel frame with reliable flange sealing to minimize gas leakage under high-temperature operating conditions. Reserved ports for temperature measurement, sampling and exhaust support real-time production monitoring.

Project Delivery & Outcomes


After factory assembly, tilting motion testing and acceptance, the equipment was delivered and commissioned on the customer’s melting and casting production line.
