Degassing Box Lining Maintenance :
Preheat Above 700℃: Always preheat thoroughly before adding metal to avoid thermal shock cracking or moisture explosions.
Clean Hot & Gentle: Scrape off floating dross while the box is warm using rounded tools—never hammer or chisel the walls.
Drain Completely: Fully drain all aluminum after every run so solidifying metal doesn't crack the lining.
Brush Boron Nitride (BN): Coat interior walls regularly with BN spray/paint to stop metal sticking and penetration.
Patch Big Cracks Fast: Hairline cracks ($<1\text{ mm}$) can just be coated over, but cracks larger than $2\text{ mm}$ must be cleaned, filled with refractory patch paste, and fully dried before reuse.
Storage protection:If idle for a long time, keep the degassing box dry and ventilated. Prevent moisture absorption of refractory lining. Cover it properly to avoid dust and rain.
